Do you have a location where we could setup our weekly HotLaps course?

More Information...

If you are reading this you probably want to make your place available as a start place for a week long hotlaps event.

We ( the hotlappers) appreciate this very much!

What is hotlaps?

As far as i know the hotlaps were invented by Jane Fossett, she had sailors sail a usually Olympic style course with a fixed wind and manually log their times to compare the speeds of the huge variety of boats we have here in SL in order to calculate a handicaps table, offspring of this tables are still being used today in multi class events.

We have a slightly different approach, the hotlaps we do are for fun! And we do one course/place for a week and move on to the next.

The logging is done automatically.

It is like a multi class race where timezones do not prevent sailors to join, you can fight your opponents  and hone your skills on that course for a week.

Sailors can see the results in an easy to read Leaderboard as seen here

The max amount of sailors on course we have seen so far was 6 ( but we are gaining in popularity ) since this is a 24/7 event the place is sometimes deserted and sometimes busy.

What we need to be able to run the event:

- We need rez rights for a line it does not have to be a huge line we did 20 to 100 Meters wide.***

- Access to your wind setter OR disabling yours and using our combined WWC / Bandit / TMS wind setter

- ( preferably) Near the line the sailors should be able to rez their boats without joining groups or stuff like that.

- A landing point near the rez zone.

- Sail-able water to make an interesting course, we try to make our courses about 10 sailing minutes long in a medium fast boat

If you want you can suggest a course. ( we can take care of all this too we like it! )

A good course should allow multiple hotlappers to be starting, sailing and finishing without being hindered by the other sailors

It should be interesting to sail ( some sailors do the lap loads of times we do not want them bored! ) so no back and forth to 1  buoy on a reach.

You can use existing buoys, permanent structures and islands as marks.

If you want to make a map texture please add the landing point the rez area and the wind info on the map.

If you want add the course to trapnav as a public course and make an USB notecard

Again we can take care of all this too we like it!

*** We have some tricks up our sleeves to make lines fit in the tiniest of places so if you doubt it fits please contact one ( or all ) of us so we can come see what the possibilities are!
